Please pardon me if this is a double post but I could not find anything here about this.

Police call shootings a double homicide but say home had no signs of forced entry.

They went to the same Houston high school and lived less than a mile from each other, but John Goosey and Stacy Barnett had never met until they moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas.

Friends and family members say they had hoped the UT graduates, who settled into a West Campus condominium together, would one day get married.

I was surprised but I should not have been.

From August 2010:

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local/emotions-raw-after-plea-in-west-campus-murder-ca-1/nRxF2/

James Richard "Ricky" Thompson, 20... owed Goosey nearly $9,000 for marijuana that Goosey had "fronted" him and that Goosey had begun trying to collect the money...

His cooperation, Minton noted, led to capital murder charges last week against Samuel Gifford, 19, and Roy Renick, 21.

Arrest affidavits said that Gifford and Renick helped plan the killings, including building a silencer for the .22 caliber handgun that was used.

From September 2010:

The victims were described by mourners as recent graduates of the University of Texas, a promising young couple bound to marry and rejoin prosperous families in a fashionable part of Houston. Then they were described by the police as a menacing drug lord and his unwitting girlfriend. Then they were buried.

After a year of speculation, the case surrounding the deaths of Johnny Goosey and Stacy Marie Barnett came to an abrupt end last month.

A high school dropout pleaded guilty to murder in exchange for life in prison and testimony against accomplices.

From April 2011:

Samuel Hadden Gifford, 20, pleaded guilty to Friday to helping plan, cover up, and drive the getaway car. The Statesman also reports Roy Renick pleaded guilty to murder...

Friday Gifford was sentenced to 50 years in prison, and Renick was sentenced to 35 years.
