An Austin police SWAT officer was shot while executing a search warrant at a home in North Austin early Thursday, Austin police Chief Art Acevedo said

At a briefing, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said SWAT officers were executing a search warrant at around 5:45 a.m. at a duplex in the 1000 Block of Morrow Street, when a suspect inside a home pulled out a long rifle and fired on the officers.

Acevedo said the 18-year-old suspect fired multiple shots at that one of the bullets hit an officer in the knee.

"This was the second time in 11 days that an Austin police officer has been shot in Austin and survived. Earlier this month, officer Armando Perez was wounded after exchanging gunfire with a man suspected of breaking into cars."
