DPS Cold Case Unit Focuses on Murder of North Texas Teen

Wendy Kae Robinson was just 19-years-old when her body was found near Lake Weatherford in Weatherford, Texas. Four days earlier, on July 8, 1987, Robinson was last seen near the east end of the Lake, at an area known as "The Wall." She was never seen from again.

Texas DPS are now re-opening her case in an attempt to gain attention and new leads into what may have happened in the hours leading up to her death.

Parker County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of as much as $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the 1987 murder of a Texas teenager.

The case is far from over.

“This is a piece to the puzzle,” said Weatherford police Sgt. Jason Hayes. “We are still very much looking for other individuals that are involved with this. We firmly believe there are additional witnesses and potential for more suspects.”

In January, detectives and investigators reviewed it closely “to bring a fresh set of eyes and theories.” They created a “new strategy based off old leads,” the news release says, and with the help of the Texas Rangers and the U.S. Secret Service, identified Adkins as a suspect.

While still ongoing, the case was presented to a grand jury on Dec. 1 and Adkins was indicted. He was booked into Parker County Jail on Wednesday with no bond listed.
