MISSING PERSON APPEAL ❗

Urgent appeal to locate missing Sheffield man, Adam Perkins who is thought to be in the Great Ayton area.

24-year-old Adam was last seen and heard from on Monday 20 March at around 8pm when he left his home address in Sheffield to go camping.

Officers have since located his car in the Great Ayton area and are conducting searches to find Adam. He has visited the area previously to go caving.

He is described as around 5ft 10in, with a slim build, a light beard and brown hair.

It's thought he was wearing brown/khaki trousers and a black fleece jacket.

Any immediate sightings of Adam should be reported to North Yorkshire Police on 999. Please quote reference 12230051876.

Leaving home at 8pm to go camping seems quite an odd time at this time of year. It certainly would have been dark already by then, so not the easiest time to set up a camp unless he was planning to bivvy in a cave or some other sheltered spot.

It does rather, which might suggest there is more going on here.
 
Usually in these kind of threads it's suicide but this article gives me the impression that it was an accident. It seems to me that these mine exploring hobbyists suspected, based on where he has told his family he would be camping, that he had gone into the mine and been overcome by hypoxia which he may have been unaware of and which is much more dangerous to solo spelunkers. Even at the beginning of the article I expected it to say he was at the bottom of a shaft having fallen but no, he just went too deep without ventilation/oxygen.
