The devastated brother of missing Scot Alan Taylor has said the chance of finding him alive are 'very slim'.

Alan, from Dundee, was last seen on September 8, and is believed to have been at The Three Sisters in Glencoe around 6am on Thursday September 9.

The 57-year-old was reported missing when he failed to return to work on Tuesday September 21 as his worried siblings realised something was wrong.

His car, a grey Fiat Punto - registration TN07 OWK - was found abandoned at The Three Sisters carpark and it is believed to have ben there since September 9.

Brother Derek, 52, and sister Angela, 51, said their brother was notoriously bad for texting back and enjoyed his own company planning walking routes.

But two weeks later they realised something was terribly wrong when Alan did not return to work and the food in his house had went out of date.

Derek told the Record: "He is quite happy in his own company planning his next walk and researching.

"He doesn't tell people when he is going away. He loves walking and has done all the munros twice.

"He was supposed to be back at work on the 10th of September but had a week off after that so we thought he had maybe got his dates mixed up and gone to do the West Highland Way.

"Then when he never turned up to work on the Tuesday - that's when we really started to worry more.

"We panicked. Up until then it was not too unusual."

Derek says Alan's disappearance is out of character and the family believe he may have slipped in the dark while out climbing.

The family now fear the worst but hope that someone will be able to help them locate Alan.

He continued: "We think he has maybe slipped in the dark and fell but a million other things are going through my mind. You've just got to wait.

"The chances of him being alive are, I think, very slim but it is the not knowing.

"He had food dated in the fridge for the 15th of September and he doesn't chuck food out. He had definitely planned to be back."

On Wednesday 31 August, 2022, police received a report the body of a man had been discovered in a gully near Aonach Eagach Ridge, Glencoe.

A formal identification has still to take place, however, police believe it to be 57-year-old Alan Taylor, who has been missing from Dundee since September 2021.

Officers are liaising with the family. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Rest in peace, Alan. :(

So sad, and that it has taken so long for him to be discovered. I did Aonach Eagach last month as an offshoot day from doing the WHW, it’s such a beautiful area.

This man featured tonight's episode of Highland Cops on BBC2. Sadly, we know the outcome here.
