A father has been charged with the murder of his four-year-old daughter.

Alexa Wheatley had been living with her father Carl Wheatley in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, since Christmas.

Alexa, who was known as Lexie, joined him after he won a custody battle with her mother, according to a neighbour.

A father who beat his four-year-old daughter to death has been jailed for 21 years.

Alexa-Marie Quinn died on 12th March last year after suffering from what a pathologist described as "extreme blunt-force trauma."

Carl Wheatley, 31, from Hatfield, Hertfordshire, was found guilty of murder on Wednesday. He had admitted manslaughter but the jury at Albans Crown Court rejected his plea of not guilty on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
