We are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man reported missing from North Ayrshire.

Andrew Linton, 43, was last seen in the Corsehill area of Kilwinning at around 5.35am on Wednesday, 22 February, 2023. He is believed to have left an address on foot and has not been seen since.

He is described as around 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build, and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt, a light coloured beanie hat, black trousers and black boots. He may be wearing a grey hooded jumper and be in possession of a rucksack.

Inspector Alex Beagrie from Irvine Police Station said: “Andrew speaks with a local accent and is local to the Kilwinning area. This behaviour is out of character for him and we have a number of police resources out looking for Andrew.

“I’d ask anyone who may have seen him, or a man matching his description, since shortly after 5.30am this morning to get in touch and report any sightings so we can investigate.”

Those with information should call Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 0514 of 22 February.

It is thought he may also have been wearing a grey hooded jumper and carrying a large red rucksack with black lace criss crossed on the front.

Concern is growing for his welfare as specialist search teams continue their search, with local and taxi companies also being asked to keep an eye out for him.

Inspector Alex Beagrie, Irvine Police Station, said: “Andrew has been missing now for two days, and for him to leave his home and family without letting them know where he is or getting in touch is not like him at all and is concerning.

“Officers have been checking CCTV from the local area and in the town centre but so far there have been no further sightings of him.

“Local bus and taxi companies have been alerted, as have our colleagues at British Transport Police. We also have officers, including specialist search teams, searching for him..."

A week on since he was reported missing, police today issued a further appeal to the public to help trace Andrew Linton from Kilwinning..

Andrew, 43, was last seen in the Corsehill area of Kilwinning around 5.35am on Wednesday, 22 February 2023.

This was around 3.30pm on Saturday, 25 February and at the time he man was in the company of another person, described as wearing a dark coloured jacket.

Andrew’s wife Alison said: “Andrew is a family man married with four grown stepsons and a granddaughter Myla age three.

THE family of missing Kilwinning man Andrew Linton have organised a second public search in their ongoing attempts to trace him.

The latest search will be held this Saturday, March 4, starting at 10am at the new 'Doon the Beach' community cafe on Stevenston's Shore Road.

The search will cover the Ardeer and Stevenston area - and Andrew's family says anyone is welcome to come along and help.

Andrew has now been missing from Corsehill in Kilwinning for over a week.

He was last seen in a property in the area at around 5.35am on Wednesday, February 22.

[...]

So the last possible sighting was of Andrew going under the new Dalry bypass and then crossing under the railway line just beyond Wilson's Auctions.

Presumably he did not leave home that morning to go to work.

He appears to have been heading out into the countryside using farm roads near the Blair Estate.

The sighting could of course be totally unreliable.

I know a few people from Kilwinning that know Andrew.

Bid to trace unknown figure spotted on CCTV as hunt for missing Ayrshire man Andrew Linton continues

Officers investigating the 43-year-old's disappearance are keen to speak to anyone who may have spotted a man walking on Lochlibo Road at its junction with Cairnmount Road in Irvine at around 6.25am on the day Andrew vanished.

Cops say that while the figure on the CCTV matches Andrew's description and has a similar walk they can't be sure that it's the missing man.

This sighting fits the timeline. Andrew left home at around 05:25 and is then spotted at Cairnmount Road at 06:25. The walk would take just about an hour.

Disappointing that the CCTV footage was not of Andrew as it fitted well with the time.

He must have left home and headed out into the countryside.

THE family of missing Kilwinning man Andrew Linton say they hope national TV news coverage of his disappearance will help them find some answers - one month since he was last seen.

Andrew was last seen on Wednesday, February 22 - and Police Scotland have also re-appealed for information from the public as they continue their attempts to trace him.

We visited Andrew's home in Corsehill in Kilwinning, where his wife Alison, sister Hayley Craig, and parents Bertha and Andrew made their pleas.

*********
And Hayley also said that TV coverage specifically could help find new information, given not everyone will have access to what has been published so far.

She continued: “My friend stays in Irvine, and Andrew had been missing for three or four days before he even knew about it.

“He doesn’t do social media, and he doesn’t read a paper, so he didn’t realise.

“That’s why we want to try and reach out to people who don’t have social media.

“They might not have it but they have a dash cam, or they saw him somewhere.

“We’re just trying to get it out there and we feel like we’re getting knocked back.

“Every single missing person is a high risk at the end of the day. They should be treated the same.”
