Probably . . .

There are fears that a body found in a Glasgow church is a missing Polish student.

The body was found at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church by police probing the disappearance of Angelika Kluk.

The 23-year-old failed to*turn up for her job as a cleaner on Monday.

She was last seen with the church handyman, convicted sex offender Peter Tobin, 60. He is thought to be on the run.

Why can't authorities understand there is no rehabilitation for rapists? :banghead:

Hi Floh. You are right once a rapista always a rapist.we keep seeing these sorts of cases time and time again. Very sad. i do not know how we can stop this from keep happening. When someone has done there time they are free to go wherever they want. How can these things be stopped. Better knowledge by local authorities could help but I doubt it.

What a sweet looking girl. So she was living at the church and cleaning it? That monster must have caught her unaware. The article said that she was found in the church. If she was in the church why did it take them 5 days to find her?

I think the only remedy for these perverts is that we change the laws. Hurt a child one time and you are locked up for life. We could build more prisons where the perverts...only...will live out their lives. It shouldn't matter if the child was touched or raped. That person is a pervert and should never be let out in society again. Yes, we would end up carrying the cost of their care and the building of the prisons but wouldn't it be worth it just knowing that these creeps are locked up forever. I know it would only take care of the creeps that are caught but it would be a start. To me it is so simple. I know there would be groups out there screaming about the perverts rights. Well, maybe the people who belong to those groups could take a few of the perverts home and be responsible for them 24/7. Have them around their children and grandchildren. I can only guess at how long that would last!

Hi, Bobbisangel--

The Polish girl found in the church was 23, so really a young woman. His arrest & conviction for her murder led the police to look into other unsolved murders & it turned out he had lived in the house in Margate where poor Vicky's body was found.

Here is the latest from his trial for Vicky's murder:

horrible, horrible man. I can't remember how it was that the Polish girl wasn't found for a few days...I need to go look at some archives.

I'm fairly sure that the cost of prisoner care is negligible compared to the cost of investigating future crimes committed by these pervs and putting them on trial.

“Her death is now being treated as murder.”23-year-old Angelika Kluk goes missing in Glasgow in 2006. At the time of her disappearance, the Polish student is living in the chapel house of a church in the city, where she has a summer job as a cleaner. After some days, her body is found hidden under the floorboards of the church.

Tobin killed Angelika Kluk and concealed her body beneath the floor of a Glasgow church
''A new BBC documentary, The Hunt for Peter Tobin, explains how the murder of a young Polish student finally solved the mystery of what had happened to Dinah and a second teenager, 15-year-old Vicky Hamilton, who had gone missing in central Scotland six months earlier in February 1991.

Tobin was a registered sex offender on the run from the authorities when he killed Angelika Kluk and concealed her body beneath the floor of a Glasgow church in September 2006.

He was 60 at the time. The crime was so horrific, detectives were convinced he must have killed before.

Strathclyde Police launched Operation Anagram, a nationwide scoping exercise which tried to establish whether Tobin could be linked to unsolved cases around the UK.''

I didn't watch this but did they never catch him?

Yes they caught him I recall a news report showing him kicking out at a camera operator/journalist.
He spent time in prison and I’m sure he died there quite recently.

''Former Detective Superintendent David Swindle said: “Tobin was able to travel around the UK for decades, using hundreds of aliases, addresses, vehicles and mobile phone sim cards. When he killed Angelika Kluk, he had a false identity with a name badge and was helping homeless people at the church in Glasgow where the Polish student had disappeared.

“Serial killers like him are cunning, conniving, controlling and, I hate to say, clever. He knew exactly what he was doing keeping himself under the radar as a registered sex offender.''

''The detective immediately recognised Tobin’s calculated behaviour under questioning by officers during Angelika’s disappearance, signalling this was a killer used to hiding in plain sight.

Swindle said: “He was cool while giving a statement to officers over Angelika’s disappearance, even hanging around for a couple of days before disappearing and we found her body buried under the floorboards. I instinctively knew Tobin did not get to the age of 60 and suddenly kill. He had done this before.”
2024

''Serial killer Peter Tobin was suffering from dementia, vascular disease and prostate cancer and had contracted pneumonia when he died in 2022, a fatal accident inquiry has heard.
Tobin was serving three life sentences for the murders of Vicky Hamilton, Dinah McNicol and Angelika Kluk when he sustained a broken leg during a fall in his cell at HMP Edinburgh on 8 September 2022.
He was taken to hospital the following evening, but died a month later on 8 October at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary aged 76.
His ashes were scattered at sea after no-one came forward to claim his remains''.
