Kent Police are continuing to look for an 82-year-old man who has been missing for two weeks.

Anthony Brown was last seen on a train that left Higham [Kent] station at 4.50 pm and arrived at Northfleet [Kent] at 5.02 pm on Thursday 18 January 2024.

Officers believe Mr Brown, who also goes by the name of Tony, may still be in the Northfleet area but are not ruling out the possibility he may have boarded another train. He is from Reading and was reported missing on Sunday 21 January 2024.

Mr Brown was in Kent when his car broke down on the M25. From there he travelled to Bluewater shopping centre and then onto Higham station where he travelled towards Northfleet station.

He is described as being white, five feet and ten inches tall, of medium build, with receding grey hair and grey/blue eyes. When he was last seen, Mr Brown was wearing grey trousers, brown shoes with white socks, a burgundy jumper and a long checked beige coat. He was also using a metal walking stick.

North Kent Chief Inspector Will Lay said: ‘Since Mr Brown was reported missing we have carried out numerous searches and completed various lines of enquiry but have still not found him.

‘We know that after his car broke down on the M25, he was taken to Bluewater by a kind member of the public before he was later conveyed to the train station by another person.

‘Mr Brown has a distinctive walk and we hope that by releasing CCTV footage of him at the shopping centre, it might help to jog someone’s memory.

‘I would encourage Northfleet residents to check their sheds and outbuildings. People are also urged to review private CCTV, doorbell or dash camera footage for any sightings of Mr Brown, particularly after 5pm on Thursday 18 January.

This is quite a bizarre case. The poor guy has been on a very convoluted journey. It is great that members of the public have tried to help him on his way, but I wonder if there has been some sort of miscommunication / misunderstanding which has led to him going to Higham, only to come almost back to where he started (and end up at Northfleet).

It’s a shame he didn’t call AA or another company, or maybe the wait was too long.

Sad update in the search for Tony, not far from where he was last seen.
