Found Deceased UK - Anthony Treadgold, 44, not used phone/cards, Coventry, 31 Oct 2021

We need your help as we’re still searching for Anthony Treadgold and we are really very concerned.

The 44-year-old is from the Canley area of Coventry and hasn’t been seen since 4.15pm on Sunday 31 October.

Anthony is 5ft 9ins tall, he’s of slim/medium build and has greying hair. He was last seen wearing dark trousers and a distinctive black parka coat with a fur-lined hood. He was carrying a multi-coloured CEX draw string bag.

It’s been nearly two weeks since Anthony has been seen. We’ve been following every possible line of enquiry – including trawling hours of CCTV near his home, his friends and families homes’ and Warwick university campus.

We know he used his bank card at Aldi on Shultern Lane, Coventry at around 3.15pm on 31 October. The last sighting we have of him on CCTV was near Lynchgate Court on University of Warwick campus just after 4pm.

Anthony made a call on his Nokia 7.2 smartphone shortly after, but his phone has not been used since.

We’ve carried out financial checks, telephone checks, and have spoken with local hospitals and many other agencies.

We’ve got specially trained officers supporting Anthony’s family at what is a very distressing time for them, and all who know him.

We have police search advisors combing open ground, woodland and searching nearby canals and rivers.

People we’ve seen in these areas have told us they know who Anthony is, but that they haven’t seen him for a couple of weeks – this is worrying.

• Do you have any CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage from 31 October near the University campus or wider Coventry/Warwickshire area?
• Have you seen him since?
• Do you visit Tocil Wood and Nature Reserve, Ten Shilling Woods, Canley Ford, Gibbet Hill Wood or Whitefield Coppice? If so, have you seen him/will you look out for him?

The mother of a man who has been missing for more than two weeks has appealed for him to get in touch.

Anthony Treadgold, 44, was last seen in Coventry on 31 October, on the University of Warwick campus, near Lynchgate Court.

Susan Gutteridge said the last time she spoke to her son he said he was "going to heaven" and turned his phone off.

His family said his depression had got worse since his mother's brain tumour diagnosis and the death of a relative.

"He phoned me to tell me that he was leaving Coventry. I asked him where he was going and his reply was he was going to heaven," Ms Gutteridge said.

"Obviously he could tell I was distressed. I pleaded with him not to turn his phone off, to keep in touch with me - and his phone was turned off and no contact since.

"It's not like him at all and we love him very much."

West Midlands Police said officers had gone through hours of CCTV footage, carried out financial checks, telephone checks, and had spoken with local hospitals and many other agencies.

The West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Following our appeal to find Anthony Treadgold, a member of the public provided information which led to the body of a man being found on land near to Westwood Heath Lane, Coventry, today, November 19. “A formal identification is still to take place, but his family has been informed of this very sad news. “Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal.”
