Robert Connor jailed for 18 years for attempted murder with a home made spud gun. Motive:

the victim refused to go carp fishing with a flirtatious bisexual male friend

The bullet did not enter his chest, remaining lodged in his skin, so medics were later able to remove it with just a pair of tweezers under local anaesthetic.

This friend, and another man, were found not guilty of attempted murder but
jailed for 9 and 7 years.
