Frantic search for woman, 22, who went missing five days ago

"Beth Sharp left home in Hersham, near Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, after telling her parents she was going out for a walk, but never returned.
Surrey Police have been called in to investigate and launched a search for her, saying her disappearance is totally out of character.
She does not have access to a car and did not have many clothes with her when she disappeared. Concerns grew at the freezing weather set in and friends said they had not heard from her."

"There were also health concerns for Beth as she did not take her medication with her – although police have not disclosed what condition she suffers from."

"‘Beth is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall and of slim to average build. She has long blonde hair with darker roots and a tattoo behind her left heel of the letter “J”."

Worrying. Going for a lone walk without warm clothes doesnt bode well to me, sounds more spur of the moment. And it's freezing out. I hope she's with friends somewhere :(

Police search to find woman last seen on December 27
"Beth is described as white, around 5'6" and of slim to average build. She has long blonde hair with darker roots, and a tattoo behind her left heel of the letter "J". When she went missing she was wearing a blue puffer jacket, blue jeans, a grey jumper and boots, and is not believed to have many clothes with her. She does not have access to a car so is likely to be using trains or buses.

"Police believe that she may be in the Croydon or Thornton Heath area.

"Anyone who has been in contact with Beth, or believes they have seen someone matching her photo and description since last Sunday, is asked to make contact with Surrey Police on 101 or using the "live Chat" function on the Surrey Police website which will connect you direct to a call handler. Quote reference PR/45200136732.

"Anyone who knows where Beth currently is, should call 999 so that officers can attend and ensure she is safe."

Looks like boyfriend could be missing too.

We've released a CCTV image of missing #Hersham woman Beth Sharp, 22, and a man we believe she may be with.
Beth was last seen around 4.30pm on Sunday 27 December after she told her family she was going for a walk and has not been seen since. It is believed that she arranged to meet up with her boyfriend Thomas Daly, 24, after making plans to leave the area.
However, there are increasing concerns for her welfare as she does not have vital medication with her, and it is out of character for her to be out of contact for this long.
Beth and Thomas were last seen on 27 December at 1.50pm walking through the underpass at Walton-on-Thames train station.
If you have any information please DM us quoting ref PR/45200136732.

Missing woman Beth Sharp is thought to have met up with her boyfriend Thomas Daly (Image: Surrey Police
"Thomas is described as white, 5ft 9, of average build with short brown hair; he was wearing a light brown coat with dark-coloured jeans, black trainers and a brown checked baseball cap. Daly has links to the Croydon, South London and Epsom areas.''

''East Surrey Inspector Iain Scott said: "We believe that Beth has voluntarily arranged to meet up with Thomas and that they are a couple. However, we are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare due to the fact that she does not have the medication that she needs with her.

"We would like to stress that Thomas is not in any trouble and that we simply need both of them to make contact with us so we can check they are safe and well."

Wait, so she was last seen at 16:30, and the wording implies that is when she went for a walk, but the CCTV is timestamped 13:50?

So is the timestamp wrong (the lighting looks like natural light to me, so it can't be as late as 16:30)? Is the CCTV not the last sighting? Is the image just to show what they were both wearing? Where was the last sighting? Who last saw her?

It's possible Thomas came to visit her and she met him at the train station (a train from the right direction arrives at 13:46 on Sundays). The CCTV would then be of them exiting to go back to Beth's house. Then the last sighting could be either from the family as Beth walked Thomas back to the train station, or from some third party.

If this is the case, I don't understand why it wasn't initially reported that she went for a walk with her boyfriend - the Police are usually red-hot on reassuring the public, and someone disappearing on their own is a lot more alarming. If Thomas didn't come to visit Beth at her house, then where were they until 16:30? Certainly not outside as it's been frigid. And what's the scenario with Beth going for a walk - did she pop in at 16:30, say she was going for a walk and leave? Did she come home earlier than 16:30 and do other stuff before going for her walk? Where was Thomas during that time?

Need much more information for proper speculation. Let's hope she's found quickly and the Police don't have to release anything else, though.

This is an odd one. I was assuming that Beth may have suffered from depression given the information regarding her medication but now I'm not so sure this is the reason she left.

What I find strange is she is 22 and it appears she left voluntarily- im wondering why the police are concerned for her wellbeing?

Anyone seen a case like this before?

I imagine it's the medical angle that's raised a concern.

Though as she's an adult, she may have just got a repeat prescription filled on her own and have more of the medication than her parents think.

Here's the college of Policing's website on dealing with missing people and how Police response should be tied to apparent risk: Missing persons

What is the medication that she needs? I can understand they don't want to splash that information all over the place, but if she needs them for whatever reason, and it's life threatening for her not to take them, she will recognize that and act accordingly....she is a 22 yrs old, adult. What is going on here....

yeah, I find the lack of communication quite concerning as this is seemingly out of character for her.
I hope she's found safe soon.

I guess parents where trying to get in contact with her.....mobile phone? "this phone is not connected....or the like? Did she have a pre-paid/burner phone....on the family account? Or was her phone left behind.....What was the result asking through friends?

It puts me in mind of two recent cases. Makes me wonder whether Beth is voluntarily missing but possibly being influenced by someone known to be controlling. Maybe family/police are using the medication line to justify publicity while avoiding alienating her or the bf.

One was this story (albeit not the pregnancy bit)

Found Safe - ME - Devin Dore, 20, Van Buren, 30 Dec 2020 *7 Months Pregnant*

The other I can’t find now. Not sure it was on WS but it was in British media in the last few weeks. Young adult female voluntarily disappeared (later made it known she was safe). The police/her mother made an appeal on the basis the bf was known to be controlling.
