Circumstances of Disappearance

Lorry driver Bruce was last seen in the early hours of Sunday 14 March 1999 in Batley, West Yorkshire after leaving the Frontier nightclub to go and get some food.

Later that morning Bruce spoke to his father from his home in Dewsbury. This was the last anyone heard from him. On Monday 15th March 1999 he failed to attend work at 7am as was expected.
The following day Bruce's red Peugeot 309 Saloon car was found abandoned, with fire damage, in the Castle Hill area of Huddersfield. He was reported missing the following day.
It is also believed that Mr Gapper may have been in the Scarisbrick area of Southport on Wednesday 17th March 1999 and then back in West Yorkshire the following morning, Thursday March 18, in the Morley area. There are indications that his bank card was used at these two locations.
Gapper was employed by Huddersfield transport company, Dukes Transport, as a lorry driver who delivered mainly in the Greater Manchester area.
Gapper had lived in Groves Hall Road in the Dewsbury Moor area for 10 years before he went missing. Mr Gapper's family originate from the Dursley area of Gloucestershire. His immediate family live in the Southport area. Mr Gapper had a circle of friends who were mainly associated with the Frontier nightclub in Batley. He also had connections with Lincolnshire having previously served there in the RAF for many years. Louth was known to be one of his favourite places.''
