Desperate friends of a missing woman have urged her to make contact after police launched a large-scale search of the River Tay in Scotland.

[...]

Sharing an appeal to find her on social media, one friend said they were 'absolutely devastated', adding: 'You will not meet a nicer person than Clare.'

A second said: 'Come home Clare, we all love you.'

Another said Ms Marshall's disappearance 'is just not like her', adding that they are 'very worried'.

Emergency crews, including mountain rescue teams and a police helicopter, have been searching Dundee Road and the River Tay.

The island, which splits the river as it flows through Perth, is largely covered by the course of King James VI Golf Club as well as a number of allotments.

It can only be accessed by foot over a path which runs alongside a railway bridge.

Police were yesterday said to be souring CCTV footage at the golf club and searching the course.
