A murder investigation has begun after a body was found at a house.
Officers from South Yorkshire Police made the discovery while searching a property on Crofton Avenue in Hillsborough, Sheffield, on Tuesday.
The force said inquiries were under way to establish the identity of the deceased person and the circumstances of their death.
A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders and remains in custody.

Emily Sanderson was a missing person but only private appeals and had been missing almost a couple of weeks. South Yorkshire police have posted today.

As the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in Hillsborough, Sheffield, officers are now able to confirm that the body is that of 48-year-old Emily Sanderson.

Emily’s body was found in a property on Crofton Avenue, Hillsborough, at around midday on Tuesday 30 May. A forensic post mortem examination has determined that the cause of death is head injuries.

Emily’s family is receiving support from specially trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in Sheffield.
The body of Emily Sanderson, 48, was found on Crofton Avenue, Hillsborough, at about 12:00 BST on Tuesday. She was reported missing on 25 May and had not been seen since 19 May.
A post-mortem examination found she died from head injuries.
South Yorkshire Police said a 43-year-old man from Sheffield was arrested on Friday and remains in custody.
A 40-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender on Wednesday has been bailed pending further enquiries.
The force said it had made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Det Ch Insp Andrea Bowell said: "The property at Crofton Avenue, where Emily's body was found, has undergone painstaking and extensive forensic examination.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 48-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a house in Sheffield 10 days after she went missing.

Mark Nicholls was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Emily Sanderson on Friday by South Yorkshire Police and charged yesterday with the same offence.

Nicholls has been remanded in custody and will appear before court tomorrow.

NEWS: Charges brought in Hillsborough murder investigation

Detectives have today charged a 43-year-old man with the murder of Emily Sanderson, whose body was found inside a property in Hillsborough, Sheffield earlier this week.

Mark Nicholls was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday (2 June) and charged yesterday (Saturday 3 June) with the same offence. Nicholls, of Crofton Avenue, has been remanded in custody and will appear before court tomorrow (Monday 5 June).

Emily’s body was discovered inside a property on Crofton Avenue at around midday on Tuesday 30 May. A forensic post mortem examination determined she died of head injuries.

A 40-year-old woman, arrested on Wednesday 31 May on suspicion of assisting offenders, remains on police bail.
