A Belfast woman said her family is becoming “increasingly concerned” for the welfare of her brother, who has been missing in Denmark for nearly a fortnight.

Frank McCaughey (29) was last seen on July 13 at the Aalborg railway station, where he said he was intending to take a train to Copenhagen.

Originally from Enniskillen, his sister Niamh said that Frank’s family is “becoming increasingly concerned about his welfare as he was travelling alone and has not made any contact with close friends or family since July 11 ”.

"Frank is approximately 5'5, slim build,” she added.

“If you think you have seen or been in contact with Frank since July 13th, please contact me via Facebook Messenger.

The brother of a Co Fermanagh man who has gone missing in Denmark have issued a desperate plea for information on where he is.

Frank McCaughey is a keen traveller and photographer and had spent time working in the Enniskillen Hotel and the Lough Erne Resort. He had been on a trip to the Danish city of Aalborg and his family have not heard from him since July 12.

There have been no reported sightings of Frank since the family launched an appeal for information earlier this week. Frank’s brother Conan said it was unlike him not to be in contact with his family for so long, and that Danish police were currently conducting a missing persons investigation.

Making an emotional plea directly to his brother, Conan begged for Frank to return to his family.

“We love him and we really miss him. There’s so many people who care about him and we just want to get him home safe and sound,” Conan told Belfast Live.

“We’re so concerned about him. Frank does like to travel but he does keep in touch regularly and he hasn’t been in touch with anyone for two weeks now.

“He is quite vulnerable as well, he has epilepsy and does have seizures from time to time. We are really worried.”

"Don't worry about me mummy I'll be touch".

Frank McCaughey from Enniskillen is missing in Denmark.

It's been two weeks since the 29-year-old was in touch with his family.

His mother Pamela McCaughey and brother Conan McCaughey are desperate to find him.

"He's profoundly loved. Deeply deeply loved," Pamela said.

Frank went traveling on his own at the start of July.

The family have contacted the authorities and Danish police have been searching for him.

The last time he was in contact was the 11th July. Since then nothing - it's now over two weeks.

Conan said: "It's like he has just disappeared. We are worried about his wellbeing."

“Have you seen Frank Clement McCaughey?

The police are looking for 29-year-old Frank McCaughey from Northern Ireland, who was last seen at the railway station in Aalborg on Wednesday 13 July in the afternoon. His family has not had contact with him since July 11 and they are very worried. Call 114 immediately if you have information in the case.

Frank McCaughey is described as: Male, approx. 160 – 170 cm tall, fair skinned with freckles, reddish brown hair and possibly stubble. He has scars just above his eyebrows. In Aalborg, Frank was briefly in contact with the North Jutland Police, here he told them that he was on his way by train, bound for Copenhagen. This was later confirmed by a witness who saw him board the train.

He may travel with photographic equipment as he is an avid amateur photographer.

If you see Frank McCaughey, or have information about his whereabouts, please contact Nordjyllands Police on phone 114.

The family of missing Fermanagh man Frank McCaughey (29) are still appealing for information as to his whereabouts, with police now believing that he may have travelled to Germany from Denmark.

Frank is not believed to have had any direct contact with friends or family since July 13, when he was last reported to have been seen on a train from Aalborg to Copenhagen, Denmark.

Police have not yet been able to speak with Frank or confirm his location, nor has there been any indication of activity online since July 13.

Now based in Belfast, the Fermanagh man had previously worked in the hospitality industry in Enniskillen. Frank is approximately 5’5” in height, has light brown/ginger hair, is clean-shaven and has a slim build.

The PSNI are continuing their enquiries by liaising with German police via Interpol.

«On July 25, Frank McCaughey was at a hospital in Berlin, and there was a further sighting in the German capital on August 9.»

Bumping for any updates.

“Police speculation that he had travelled to Germany from Denmark proved to be right when he was admitted to hospital in Berlin in early August after suffering a seizure. The 29-year-old suffered from epilepsy and was prone to seizures that had hospitalised him in the past.

Since his discharge from hospital in Berlin, police have informed Mr McCaughey’s family that he has been spotted several times in central and southern parts of the city, but indicated to them that he was not ready to come home.

“We don’t know where he is staying, whether he has accommodation, is living rough, or a bit of both,” his brother Conán said.

“The biggest worry is for his mental health at the moment, because he would always stay in contact with us. The police have said he’s an adult, so they can’t force him to contact us, but they have asked him to.

“The fact we haven’t heard from him in so long is very distressing for all of us. My mother is heartbroken.”

Conán is appealing to any Fermanagh people living in Berlin or going on holiday there over the coming weeks to help find him.

The difficulty is, it’s a massive city and no one knows where he is in it. You could be there for weeks and not find him,Conan explained.

If we knew exactly where he is living one of us could go over there to speak to him or just make sure he is OK. We just want to know what is going on.”
