'Significant' lead prompts murder case reopening

"A "significant" new lead has led to the reopening of a murder case where a man was found dead in a burnt-out car.

George Tweedie, 26, from Bedworth in Warwickshire, was found in the car in Buxton, Derbyshire, on 7 May 2002.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Tweedie died following a blow to his head with a blunt instrument.

Three people were convicted of perverting the course of justice in connection with the death, but no murder charges have been brought.

Warwickshire Police said the case had been reopened due to a "new line of enquiry"."

Am I the only one thinking this is pretty much solved? Or what am I missing?

Two people were arrested and charged for disposing of the body. Strange that did not lead to who murdered him.

Anyone know if 18 year old who sent fake letters was their son or relative or not related to them at all? I does not prove guilt but definitely some involvment. But well, he was jailed too.

Yes he was their son.

Report from 2003 -

Karen Redshaw, 38, her estranged husband Colin, also 38, and their 18-year-old son Christopher were all sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday.

Mr Tweedie, who had been having a relationship with Ms Redshaw...
