His usual running route takes in Woodlesford Lock to the motorway bridge, along the canal and then back along the opposite bank towards St Aiden’s nature reserve.

“He was last seen leaving home at about 3.45pm for his usual run with his families’ female Goldendoodle dog but failed to return home.

“It is out of character for Graham to go missing and we are urgently appealing for information from anyone who saw him or has any information about his whereabouts.

“Officers would also like to speak with anyone who saw Graham parking up his grey Mercedes car on Bullough Lane late on Monday afternoon.

“Anyone who can assist enquiries is asked to contact Leeds District CID on 101 referencing police log 1671 of December 18.”

Police are continuing to search for Graham Connell - on this article there are a few useful pictures which shows the water in this area.

I hope his family get answers soon - I can’t see this having a positive outcome unfortunately.

My guess is that the dog got into trouble in the water and Graham tried to save them - all MOO of course.

Very odd, the dog in the river, even if the person unalived by going in the river why would they take their dog? Would the dog have jumped in trying to help? And died trying? This is a sad one.

Self-harm is always possible. But in cases like this where dog and owner both likely ended up in the water, I think it's more likely the dog jumped/fell in and the owner followed trying to rescue the dog.

Incredibly sad either way.

This is so sad

As per my previous post on this case I believe this will turn out to be other way round - Dog got into trouble in water (those banks are steep in the area pictured) - Graham has gone on to try to rescue and has unfortunately paid his life.

I own 2 dogs and if one was in trouble I would intervene they are like my babies.

Really sad news today, let’s keep Graham’s family and friends In our thoughts. RIP Graham
A body believed to be missing man Graham Connell has been recovered from the River Aire today.

He was found by underwater search officers at about noon in part of the river near to the junction of Aberford Road and Bullerthorpe Lane, Woodlesford.

While formal identification is yet to be completed, it is believed to be Mr Connell. His family has been informed and officers are continuing to provide support to them at this difficult time.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.
