From July 2014:

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...life-murder-ex-girlfriend-gazzard-hairdresser

A security guard who stabbed his former partner to death as she worked in a hairdressing salon four days after she broke up with him has been jailed for life and told he will spend at least 24 years in prison...

Gazzard had ended her relationship with Maslin, 22, because he had been violent to her, and she went to the police two days before she was murdered to report him after he threatened her and her family...

From last month:

The father of a woman killed by her ex has said there are no easy solutions to solve violence against women almost a year after the murder of Sarah Everard.

Nick Gazzard's daughter Hollie, 20, was stabbed to death in the salon where she worked in Gloucester in 2014.

Her family set up the Hollie Gazzard Trust to help victims of violence.

Mr Gazzard welcomed the formation of a task force to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG) in 2021 but said there was much more work to be done.

More support needed to address violence against women, charity says

The Netflix show's third episode explores how Hollie was an independent and headstrong young woman, who was very capable and pursuing her dreams until her ex-boyfriend showed up and started attempting to control her.

According to Chloe, despite this, Hollie still wanted to "experience the world, meet new people, travel, and just experience the world how she wanted." She planned to travel the world working as a hairdresser on a cruise ship, that set sail from Miami, and live her dream - but her ex-boyfriend's manipulative and controlling behaviour drew her back to the UK.

An expert in interpersonal violence and femicide, University of Gloucestershire's Professor Jane Monckton-Smith, explains in the episode how her kiler had a history of violence and stalking and was referred to the police more than 20 times in the five years before the murder. She said that Hollie did not know the danger she was in when she met him, but discovered it when she attempted to distance herself from the man.
