''Prior to her brutal murder, Jean had been working for an American firm, PRIcoa Relocation Management, where she assisted companies to move premises. Each morning, she travelled into New Bond Street to work from the office, and usually left her car in Carbery Avenue in order to get the tube into Central London.
She lived with her long-term partner in Crowthorne in Berkshire, who told the police that Jean had been concerned about her transport route after accepting the new job in London. In order to reassure her, they had travelled to Acton to inspect the streets near the Tube station, to make sure that no damage would come to her vehicle during the day.
He said that their main interest in staking out the area was to ensure that the car wouldn’t be stolen or damaged, and that they had very little concern about Jean’s safety because the area had appeared safe. On that fateful day in March, he had travelled in his role as a teacher to Rome for a school trip, with Jean due to meet him after the Easter weekend for a holiday.''
''After placing her bag into the back seat, Jean was attacked by a man at 7.30pm in a vicious stabbing that lasted just a few seconds. Local neighbours overheard her screams, and a carpenter witnessed the attack as he was driving along the road in his van.''
''It was noted to the police that the killer was not very physically fit, and had been unable to jump over railings during the pursuit.''
Police later appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the mile long chase to come forward to help identify the killer. They also appealed to local charities, psychiatric units and agencies for drugs and alcohol, as it was suspected that the man may have been known to social services.
He was described as being a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, with a gaunt looking face and a large nose. The carpenter who chased him said the man appeared pale with at least two days of stubble growth, and that he was around 6ft to 6ft 3in tall. At the time he attacked Jean, he was wearing a three-quarter length grey overcoat and a fisherman’s type hat, which was particularly noticeable.''
Business woman stabbed to death: Murder near station similar to 1991
A London businesswoman was murdered in a quiet suburban street in a 'vicious and motiveless' stabbing, senior Scotland Yard detectives said last night.

''A London businesswoman was murdered in a quiet suburban street in a 'vicious and motiveless' stabbing, senior Scotland Yard detectives said last night.
Jean Bradley, 47, operations manager with a West End relocation company, was attacked getting into her BMW parked near Acton Town underground station in west London. She was stabbed several times by a man with an eight-inch knife.
Detectives sought last night to play down similarities with the unsolved murder of Penny Bell, aged 43, a businesswomen stabbed in her Jaguar car at Greenford, three miles from Acton, in June 1991; the women are of similar appearance and in neither case is there evidence of sexual assault or robbery as motive. Police said that although detectives were liaising it was 'too early to speculate' that the same person might be responsible.''
Miss Bradley habitually parked her car near the underground station after driving into London from her home in Crowthorne, Berkshire; she continued to her office by train.
A carpenter passing in his van saw the incident and drove after the attacker. After a short distance, he stopped his vehicle and confronted the man, who ignored him and walked away. After pleading, unsuccessfully, with passers-by to call police, he continued to follow the attacker into a housing estate, where the man disappeared in an underground car park. Detectives said this suggested he had local knowledge.
Police say the attacker was white, aged about 40, 6 feet tall, with gaunt features and a large nose. He was wearing a black shiny hat that looked like a sou'wester and a three-quarter length grey coat.''
