West Yorkshire Police are appealing for help from members of the public in reporting any sightings of a man, Liam McDonagh, 25, who is believed to have a significant injury to his shoulder.

Liam has not been seen since around 10.30am yesterday (Monday, 26 December). He had been due to get a taxi to hospital but the taxi broke down in the Holbeck area of Leeds and Liam left on foot. Enquiries have been made with local hospitals but it is not believed that he has received any medical treatment.

He is described as a white man, 5ft 7ins tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a black jacket and jeans.

Extensive enquiries have already been made by the police to locate Liam but at this time there have been no confirmed sightings of him.

Having read the appeal again, I am not sure when the taxi broke down. Was it before it had arrived to collect Liam, or was it after the pick-up, with Liam part-way through his journey to the hospital? It probably isn't particularly relevant anyway.

It's a shame that West Yorkshire Police have not been able to confirm officially that Liam has been found. I suspect that they now have more pressing business to attend to, and that the tidying up of any loose ends has just fallen by the wayside. Perhaps we'll hear of Liam again in an unrelated context. I wonder if he disappeared for a while because he didn't want to discuss how his injury came about.
