Railway engineer from Wavertree raped 12-year-old girl after grooming her on Facebook

A railway engineer who raped a 12-year-old girl after grooming her on Facebook was jailed for more than eight years.

Louis McNally, 22, of Salisbury Road, Wavertree, sent the child sexually explicit texts and pictures and repeatedly asked her to come to his flat.

Liverpool Crown Court heard the victim had claimed to be 15 and used a fake name on Facebook.

Charlotte Kenny, prosecuting, said the girl stayed out all night on March 2 without her parents’ permission.

When she came home her worried dad confiscated her mobile phone and discovered lewd Facebook messages, in which McNally asked her to come to his flat and promised to pay for a taxi.

Her dad then searched her bedroom and found another phone, containing sexual text messages.
