We are issuing an urgent appeal to locate Louise Brown from the Fulford area of York.

Louise, 41, was last seen on Wednesday (26 July), at around 3pm in the Heslington Lane area York.

Friends and family have attempted to contact Louise since she was last seen but have been unable to do so.

Louise drives a white Susuki Swift with the registration plate starting with ‘YB69’ and this is no longer at her home address – if you have seen this car or know its whereabouts, please contact us as a matter of urgency.

This is completely out of character for Louise, and we are extremely worried for her welfare.

Louise if you are reading this, please get in touch with someone, whether that be your friends, family or police, we just want to know you are safe.

Update on the search for missing person Louise Brown

We're extremely concerned for the welfare of Louise Brown.

Louise is 41-years-old and is described as thin build, approximately 1.73cm in height and has long blonde hair. She was last seen in the Heslington Lane area of York on Wednesday (26 July), at around 3pm.

Yesterday (Sunday 30 July 2023) we recovered Louise's car on Skeldergate Bridge in York.

We're today continuing to search for Louise and have drafted in specialist departments which include the Operational Support Unit and the Police Underwater Search Unit.

We're asking that members of the public report possible sightings of Louise via 101. If you have an immediate sighting, please dial 999.

The North Yorkshire Police Facebook appeal for Louise appears to have been removed, but no update has been posted. I have to say that I am fearing the worst.

ETA - Sad update. North Yorkshire Police have just made the following statement:

Officers searching for missing person Louise Brown have recovered a body from the River Ouse in York.

The discovery was made yesterday afternoon (Monday 31 July 2023) by a member of the public.

The body has been identified as missing person Louise Brown and Louise’s next of kin have been informed.

The body of a missing woman has been recovered from the River Ouse, days after she vanished and her car was abandoned on York bridge.

The body of 41-year-old Louise Brown was found by a member of the public in the Yorkshire river yesterday afternoon, days after she vanished from her home without a trace.

She was last seen on Wednesday July 26 at around 3pm in the Heslington Lane area of York. Family and friends alerted police after she failed to respond to messages, and he white Susuki Swift was noted to be missing from her house.

North Yorkshire Police have since recovered her car, which was parked on Skeldergate Bridge.

An urgent appeal was launched, with police describing her disappearance as 'completely out of character for Louise', adding: 'There are serious concerns for her welfare'.

A police operation involving the Police Underwater Search Unit was launched yesterday centred on King's Staith by the river, when a body was recovered.
