OFFICERS are appealing for help from the public to locate a missing man from Portland.

Dorset Police received a report at around 1.30pm on Monday, January 3 raising concern for the welfare of 33-year-old Mark Smith, after he failed to turn up to work as expected.

Mark is described as white, five feet ten inches tall and of slim build with short mousey brown hair and tattoos on his arms.

Chief Inspector Jamie Clark, of Dorset Police, said: “Mark has not been in contact with family or friends since the evening of Sunday 2 January 2022 and this is out of character for him.

“We believe he may have travelled to the St Ives area of Cornwall and would urge anyone with information as to his whereabouts to please get in touch.

“Finally, if you see this appeal Mark, please make contact with us or your family as we all just want to ensure you are safe and well.”

Anyone with information or knowledge as to Mark’s whereabouts is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 3:280.

Desperate searches are currently underway for a man who failed to turn up at work.

Dorset Police received a report at around 1.30pm on Monday, January 3 raising concern for the welfare of 33-year-old Mark Smith, after he failed to turn up to work as expected.

The Veterans Hub, based on Portland Road, shared an update on its Facebook page on how he is part of the team at The Veterans Hub Community Cafe.

A spokesman for the hub said he was supposed to be travelling back from the Gloucestershire area to Weymouth.

Dorset Police describe Mark, from Portland, as white, five feet ten inches tall and of slim build with short mousey brown hair and tattoos on his arms.

OFFICERS are renewing their appeal for anyone with information to come forward as searches continue for a missing man from Portland.

Dorset Police received a report at around 1.30pm on Monday, January 3 raising concern for the welfare of 33-year-old Mark Smith, after he failed to turn up for work as expected.

Inspector David Parr, of Dorset Police, said: "It's out of character for Mark not to make contact with family or friends for a number of days and we are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries in a bid to locate him.

"I want to renew our appeal for anyone with information relating to his whereabouts to please come forward and we are issuing new images of Mark in the hope that someone might have seen him since the afternoon of Monday 3 January 2022.

"Our enquiries indicate he may have travelled to the St Ives area of Cornwall and he also has links to Weston-super-Mare in Somerset and the Brecon Beacons area of Wales.

"I would again like to make a direct plea to Mark if you see this, please make contact with us or your family as we all just want to ensure you are safe and well."

No i dont think he has. There was 2 missing vets and there was 1 found, Brian. I think Mark is still missing, police posts still up.

Yes, as Stilldiggin said above, Brian was found safe. That is not a post from recent days. Mark is still unaccounted for.

I think he would have been accounted for by now if he had had an accident. There being a Beacon Alert suggests there is a mental health concern, plus of course a missing period early last year - as linked above.
