A 32-year-old man has been missing for seven days leaving his parents "distraught", his friend has said. Mathew 'Matty' Williams from the village of Pen-y-Cae in Wrexham county was last seen in the area at around 1pm on Monday, October 23.

His friend, Tanya Roberts, who has "known him all [her] life", has said that "nobody has seen or heard from him since that day". His friends and family have been searching for him ever since, but to no result. On Wednesday (October 25), North Wales Police launched an appeal to find Mathew.

According to Tanya, Mathew was last seen wearing a mustard coloured blanket. His loved ones are particularly concerned about his welfare due to his mental health condition.

Mathew Williams' Facebook page: William Mathews (sic).

Given the baggage that Matty was carrying (which can also be seen here as moving CCTV footage) (link points to a Facebook page), it looks like he has at least planned to go away. Hopefully he is just lying low somewhere and will be found before the weather turns too cold.

POLICE have confirmed the body of a missing man from the Wrexham area has been found.

A number of appeals into the whereabouts of Mathew Williams were made over the last two weeks, following his disappearance from the Penycae area on October 23.

North Wales Police have today (November 6) confirmed that Mr Williams' body was sadly found on Friday (November 3).

They say the death is not thought to be suspicious.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Sadly, we can confirm the body of a man was found on Friday, November 3rd.

"The man has now been formally identified as 32-year-old Mathew Williams, who we recently circulated as missing. There are thought to be no suspicious circumstances.
