GUILTY UK - Natalia Strelchenko, 38, brutally murdered, Manchester, 30 Aug 2015

38-year-old concert pianist Natalia Strelchenko, also known as Natalia Strelle, has been attacked in her Manchester home. Police and emergency services were called to the home just before 1am Sunday morning and found her suffering severe head and neck injuries. Efforts to save her failed and she died shortly after. A 48-year-old man's been arrested.

Natalia moved to the UK from Norway but is of Russian origin. She made her debut at age 12 with the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. Police said:

“Natalia’s family, many of whom live outside the UK, are understandably beside themselves at their loss and we are doing everything we can at this time to support them.

“We have a team of detectives investigating this murder and are asking for anyone with information that may assist our inquiries to please get in touch.”

John Martin has appeared in court charged with Natalia's murder. He's also accused of the attempted murder of a youth who can't be named for legal reasons.


He did not enter a plea and will have a preliminary hearing Friday.

Strelchenko, who used the stage surname of Strelle, was at the “peak of her powers” when she was murdered by her jealous and controlling husband at their Greater Manchester home, on their second wedding anniversary last year.

Her success provoked jealousy in John Martin, a far less successful musician who made the last few months of her life miserable...

On Friday, Martin, 48, was found guilty of her murder. He was cleared by the jury of the attempted murder of a youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons...

He will be sentenced on Monday.

A classical musician who resented and tried to control his successful wife – the world-renowned concert pianist Natalia Strelchenko – has been jailed for life for murdering her on their second wedding anniversary.

John Martin shook his head and appeared to say “no” as the judge sentenced him to a minimum of 17 years for the “brutal, sustained and unprovoked attack” on his wife.
