So after the man was arrested, they searched the woods.
It sounds like they got some information from him.

"No case is ever closed and we will review any new information that comes to light”.

That’s from the officer leading the investigation into the disappearance of Patricia Finnie.

Patricia was 64 went she went missing from Southend on 11 May 2017.

She was last seen in the Bellevue area at around midday having been to visit a friend in Riviera Drive earlier in the day.

Her disappearance was reviewed by detectives in 2022 from our Serious Crime Directorate and, as a result, treated as a homicide.

Enquiries have continued since that time, including search activity in Hockley Woods.

In June 2023, a man in his 70s was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The case has been reviewed and, in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, we have decided there is insufficient evidence to proceed and so the man previously arrested has been told he faces no further action.

Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook said:

“My thoughts are with Pat’s family who are still looking for answers about what happened to her.

“We have carried out a thorough investigation and exhausted all lines of enquiry available to us.

“However, no case is ever closed and if there is anyone out there who has information about what happened to Pat, and who hasn’t already spoken to us, we need to hear from you.”

If you have any information about where she is or what has happened to her you can report it online.

Please quote the crime reference number 42/1961/22.

If you would like to make an anonymous report you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, by visiting their website or by calling 0800 555 111.
