Can you help us to find Penny, 54, who is missing from the Gainsborough area?

She was last seen in the East Ferry area yesterday, and we and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Penny is around 5ft 8" tall, with blonde shoulder length hair, hazel eyes, and pierced ears. She may also be smoking cigarettes.

She may be travelling in a red Audi TT with the registration B8 NAM.

We hope that by sharing details of the distinctive car along with her image, someone might be able to get in touch with information about where it might be to focus our search efforts.

If you can help, please call 101 and quote PID 118266. Always call 999 in an emergency.

We are still asking for help to find Penny, who has not been seen since 8.30pm on Tuesday (14 January).

Officers are carrying out searches of the local area including by foot, vehicle patrol, and using the police drone. This is alongside other enquiries.

We are checking wooded areas, including Laughton Woods and the surrounding countryside, and ask that anyone who is out walking dogs, or otherwise in the area to get in touch with us if they see Penny or spot her red Audi TT, which has a 3D registration number B8 NAM.

If you can help, please call 101 and quote PID 118266. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Update, 3.30pm, 17 January

We are saddened to report that in the search for missing Penny, she has been found deceased.

An officer searching the local area found tracks leading to the River Trent just north of East Ferry, and a red Audi TT was recovered from the water today.

Sadly, a woman was found deceased in the vehicle, and she has been formally identified as Penny.

Penny’s family have been made aware of Penny’s death and are being supported by officers, and ask for privacy at this time.

Our investigation is ongoing into how the vehicle entered the water.

We ask that people do not speculate, and remember that her loved ones could be distressed by rumours and speculation.
