UK - Prince Andrew accused of underage sexual relationship, 1999-2002 *settled* #2

  • #1,081
Wow.... King Charles is moving decisively.
Probably long overdue but many considerations had to be dealt with; afaik the daughters will not lose their titles ?

Andrew's daughters to retain their titles

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will retain their titles despite their father losing his.

This is because they are the daughters of the son of a Sovereign.

This is in line with King George V's Letters Patent of 1917.

"Andrew's ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson,
will make her own living arrangements after moving out of the royal grounds of Windsor Castle,
it is understood."

"She has lived with her disgraced ex-husband in their 30-room Grade II-listed mansion since 2008
despite divorcing in 1996.

It marks a bitter end for Andrew and Sarah
- the former duchess who once said:

'We're the happiest divorced couple in the world.
We're divorced to each other,
not from each other'."

What is embarrassing for the Royal Family is how public this has been. Why didn't they just go away quietly?

I have just started reading “ entitled “ and I’m only on chapter 3 but Andrew has always been a nightmare since he was little.
He was beyond indulged and has never been told “ no “ with zero accountability it would seem.
He’s been feathering his own nest for decades.
I can’t stand the sight of either him or his grubby ex wife.
If they cause issue or threaten to write about their time then the titles and trappings go for his daughters.
It’s not difficult.

"The family of his accuser have now released a statement reacting to the Palace's announcement.

Her brother Skye and sister-in-law Amanda said:

'Today,
an ordinary American girl from an ordinary American family,
brought down a British prince
with her truth and extraordinary courage.

Virginia Roberts Giuffre,
our sister,
a child when she was sexually assaulted by Andrew,
never stopped fighting for accountability for what had happened to her
and to countless other survivors like her'."

'Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.'

From DM article kindly posted by Dotta

This was the most important statement from RF, IMO

Exactly - 29 words tell the world they don’t believe him.

If only the rest of the house off cards would fall.

Andrew was given plenty, some would say, too much time, to fade away discreetly into the background. Whether or not he did sleep with Virginia Roberts (at seventeen this was legal in Britain, but very sleazy and unpleasant), it is the lies he told about cutting ties with Epstein, his staggering level of entitlement and arrogance and the fact that there is probably much more to come about his and Sarah Ferguson's lifestyle and financial affairs, that have forced the Palace's hand.

He had to be removed completely from Windsor and to be stopped from bringing the monarchy into disrepute by the removal of the titles. The monarchy is typical of Britain, things brew and brew but when a tipping point is reached, we are capable of being ruthless, underneath the polite facade! Now onto another ex-Royal couple who are on borrowed time.

So can we start calling him "The Andrew formerly known as Prince" now?

If they shine the light too brightly, it just might.

Even the top guy has had friends of a similar ilk (JS) and been seen with bags of cash.

Just like his little brother. MOO, JMO

Virginia did not "sleep" with Prince Andrew.
Epstein/Maxwell sex trafficked minors and non-minors for themselves and friends, Andrew being one of them.
According to Virginia she was paid $10,000 to perform for Andrew.
Everything else you said I agree with.

There was something last night, Princess Anne, speaking about ‘he’ will be taken care of within the family and nothing further will be made public.

She obviously meant Andrew but I was awaiting the World Series and rushed past it.

Now, I wish I’d lingered longer to hear everything she had to say.

Andrew will still have a very fancy home, a lavish lifestyle etc paid for by the King but he will be kept out of sight on the Kings private estate.

It sounds almost as if he has diminished capacity at this point.

Looking at his recent behaviour, the glares etc, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Epstein was a sex offender and threw parties. There is no proof that Charles knew what Saville was to be honest.

Princess Anne seems to me an extraordinary woman.
Humble and hardworking.
A rock for the King and family.
Down-to-earth and with a sense of humour.
Noble, yet modest.

"Noblesse Oblige", right?

Respect from a foreigner - me! :)

This makes it sound like Fergie wasn't a lying disgrace for decades and continues to be so.
The only difference is she would somehow try to reinvent herself, claim she's learned her lessons, make some big money, books, endorsements etc. then disgrace the RF once again.
The US had welcomed her with open arms time and time again.
Hopefully we've learned our lesson because Britain finally has when they booted her from her charities.
imo

I certainly hope SF is not frozen out when it comes to a home.

Yes, she has created problems in the past but she has no one other than Andrew and no where else to go.

In recent years she has battled two types of cancer, both breast cancer and skin cancer.

The King or his advisors need to take everything into consideration, her health and support systems that don’t seem to be there for her. IMO, MOO
IIRC: Sarah also owns another residence that she rents out.
No need to worry about Sarah.

Sept. 2024

Fergie rules out moving into her own £4.25 million London townhouse - after renting it out for about £16,000 a month, as she and Prince Andrew come under mounting pressure from the King to vacate Royal Lodge

It was sold a little while ago.

My understanding of that property is that it was purchased by the daughters for Sarah, they were also listed as owners.

Perhaps most or all of those funds had to go back to the daughters. Dunno

Not sure if JS ever threw a party but he certainly was a predatory sex offender, for many decades.

Children and the elderly.

There is no proof that the Palace did not know, esp Charles.

On his Wiki page, it’s clear that people knew for many years and some spoke out on BBC programs, others were afraid to speak out because of his charitable works. SMH

It is common knowledge what he was now true. For me the situations are not really similar. I knew someone who turned out to be a paedophile but would never have known til he was caught.
