<<Their son is described as white and 5ft 9ins with a stocky build, short light brown hair, and blue eyes.

He drives a black Ford Fiesta with the index plate EY09 YST.>>

<<After getting involved in a row, he returned to the family home in Chatham in the early hours - driving his distinctive limited-edition car.

But for some unknown reason, he left shortly afterwards and has never been seen again.

Furthermore, the 19-year-old’s black with white trim Ford Fiesta ST500 - one of only 500 in the country at the time - was also never found.

The only trace of his sudden departure was a teddy discarded outside his house in a residential area of Lordswood which was believed to have been a sentimental gift from his girlfriend.>>

The following is pure speculation on my part, but honestly, putting all of the known facts together makes me wonder if Richard sadly ended his own life after arguing with his girlfriend.

It's never stated who the "row" involved. But the fact that he "discarded" a teddy bear that was "a sentimental gift from his girlfriend" makes me lean in this direction. Arguments with a romantic partner can be tough at any age, but I feel like they're especially hard at age 19 when it's often a first love.

"His mobile phone had been switched off and he had made no transactions from his bank."

We don't know if Richard turned off his own phone. But even Richard's father, John, admits that "Whatever he has done he has clearly decided to do it off his own bat."

The article continues:

"Highly-skilled officers were able to track his vehicle’s movements using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology in a limited area across Medway..." including by "the coast at Folkestone."

Could he have driven his car into the water?
