I suspect this will be a drowning victim that has finally washed up on shore :(

At least a family will get closure hopefully

I'd be very surprised if this turns out to be human remains. This really isn't the sort of beach where a human body can wash up and remain unnoticed for long enough for it to skeletonise.
Thinking about this a bit more, it's possible that historic remains could emerge from the sand due to erosion. I believe this part of the country was hit by a storm recently.

Maybe from an old cemetary that was uncovered over time. Unearthed by the storm.

Unlikely. Cleveleys is on the northern edge of Blackpool and is essentially an extension to it and also a traditional seaside resort town which has been built up since the Victorian era. There aren't any cemeteries in the area which are subject to erosion as they are within built up areas.

I do, however, think these bones could simply have been uncovered by the recent storm. It's also possible that they are the remains of a seal. Parts of a seal skeleton, especially the rib cage, are occasionally mistaken for human remains.

The skeleton could have come from some other town, washed down by the storm.
Possibly even from a long way away.

A group of teenagers have discovered skeletal remains on a beach that were later confirmed to be human.

Lancashire Police were called to Thornton-Cleveleys in Lancashire on Thursday at about 13:15 BST after reports a skeleton had been found.

The remains were tested and confirmed to be human, with efforts now being made "to identify the deceased and find out how they died", the force added.

The identity, a man in his 30s, has now been confirmed and the deceased's family notified. Lancashire Police said they will not be making the identity public, however they confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.

I'm very surprised that this turned out to be a recent skeleton and human to boot.
