I believe you're thinking of the case of Michael Edge, rather than Brian Edge. There's some info online if you Google, but mostly in articles written about the Fred case.
We are talking about the same person, the milkman, but his name was not Michael, it was Brian Anthony (at least according to Posner's book), I believe Michael was his brother :D

That's odd. He's referred to as Michael Edge in so many articles. Wonder how that mix-up happened.

Hi all! I'm new to the site but have read this thread as I started researching this case yesterday for a blog post. One thing that's bugging me (that has been touched upon by others here too) is that I can't pinpoint exactly where Fred was found.

Initially, I thought it was the big island (below). Then I realised that, according to Google Maps, that big island isn't even a part of Winshill, where he was discovered -- it's just outside of it, to the left.

Then I wondered whether it was the smaller one to the right of the larger one, and became fairly convinced that he was found there. Mainly because the reports I found -- from newspapers at the time and now -- describe him being found in/around the mill that was located there. I found a couple that mentioned a broken kiln. Plus, it matched with the statement that there's only one way onto the island now.

BUT now I've read some info that's put me back onto the main, larger island again. This article (which, again, I beleive has been referenced/quoted earlier on in the thread) mentions that "the only other route, and, indeed, the only route today, is across Burton Bridge to Meadow Road, a narrow and unmetalled track leading to what is today the Washlands Sports Club and, beyond that, Burton Cricket Club. The body would have to have been taken along this track, then carried across fields to what those who left it there would have hoped would be its final resting place."

This article is the only mention I've seen of this info so far in the media, and has taken me back to square one - the main island. (Yellow = bridge | Red = Meadow Road)

If anyone has any opinions/insights, I'd appreciate it. This one kept me awake last night xD
