A probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a child in the Larne area has started, police confirm.

A woman in her 30s and a baby are receiving hospital treatment for injuries.

Officers aren't looking for 'anyone else' in connection with the 'domestic incident'.

Police cordon remains in place outside a house on the Bankhall Road where a child has died. Another child and woman in hospital. Police only released details saying they’re dealing with an incident but PSNI cars are arriving at the scene

As you can see it is a very rural location, this is the road that leads up to the farmhouse. One neighbour told me he rarely saw the residents, only once when a man was putting the two kids into the car

Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a three year old child, want to question the tot’s mother.

The mum-of-four, in her 30s, is under police custody at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast where she is being looked after by medical staff.

I feel like we just saw a similar case in Ireland...

Here it is -- by no means identical, but another case where a mum attacked her children -- killing three of them in this instance, in the Republic.

Woman charged with murder of her three children

The mother of three children found dead at their house in County Dublin has appeared in court charged with their murders.

Deirdre Morley, 43, from Parson's Court in Newcastle, came before a special sitting at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on Wednesday.

The bodies of Conor, 9, Darragh, 7, and Carla McGinley, 3, were discovered at about 19:45 local time on Friday.
