Officers in Edinburgh are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 61-year-old man reported missing from Penicuik, who has ties to the Edinburgh area.

Wiktor Ulewicz was last seen in the Queen Street area of Edinburgh around 5pm on Thursday, 21 September, 2023.

He is described as being around 6ft tall, of stocky build with short white/grey hair, and sometimes wears narrow black-framed spectacles. He was last seen wearing cotton chinos and a blue or navy anorak.

Inspector Gary Reid said: “Concerns are growing for Wiktor’s welfare, and we want to make sure he is safe and well.

“If anyone has seen him or knows where he might be, then please get in touch with us via 101, quoting reference number 2595 of 27th September 2023”

Police say they are growing concerned for the welfare of a man who vanished in Edinburgh a week ago.

Wiktor Ulewicz, from Penicuik, Midlothian, was last seen in the capital’s Queen Street area at around 5pm on Thursday last week (September 21).

The 61-year-old has since been reported missing to Police Scotland, who are now appealing for help from the public to find him.

 
There is sad news coming through about this. Edinburgh Police have released a statement which reads:

Following enquiries to locate Wiktor Ulewicz, missing from Edinburgh since Thursday, 21 September, 2023 we can confirm on 27 September, 2023, a man’s body was found in Carlisle, in Cumbria.

The man has been identified as Wiktor Ulewicz. His family has been notified.
