''A student raped 10 women he had plied with alcohol or drugs and videoed his attacks as “souvenirs” for his own gratification, a court has heard.
Zhenhao Zou, 27, a Chinese national, was described as a “predator, voyeur and rapist”. He denies all charges against him.
He was at University College London from 2019 studying engineering for a master’s degree and then a PhD. He came to Britain in September 2017 and studied first at Queen’s University in Belfast.

The prosecutor, Catherine Farrelly KC, said: “To the outside world, he undoubtedly presents as a smart and charming young man. The prosecution says that he is also a persistent sexual predator; a voyeur and a rapist.

“The prosecution case at this trial is that he would meet women, he would stupefy them, either with drink or drugs, and, once they were significantly under the influence of drink or drugs, he would rape them. Often, he would record himself doing so …”

In the first clip shown in court, the defendant can be seen positioning the camera to point at a naked woman who is lying motionless on a bed in a room where a blind is drawn. Mr Zou, whose defence is that the encounter was consensual, then goes on to have sex with her.

Female A told him to stop, the court heard.

In the second clip, which took place in what prosecutors said was the same room, the defendant was again seen having sex with Female A while she told him to stop, the court heard.

It is not known when the clips were filmed or who Female A is

In the police interview played to the court, the woman said at one point she was crying on the floor, and when she tried to leave he dragged her back by her clothes, before pushing her to drink vodka.
She told the officer of feeling "hopeless" and "out of control" and that she was made to stay in the flat, the court heard.
The woman said she asked Mr Zou for 100,000 in Chinese currency (£11,000) to stay but told the detective that she did not expect the defendant to pay and that this did not allow him to have sex with her, the court was told.
She claims that he raped her while she was unconscious.

A woman sought compensation in the form of a handbag from alleged rapist Zhenhao Zou, a jury hears.

Text message exchanges between the woman and the defendant, transcribed in both Mandarin and English, were shown to the jury.

Speaking from behind a screen and through an interpreter, the woman agreed that she asked Mr Zou in a text message, "where is my bag?" and the defendant replied: "I had too much to drink and did something wrong, can we discuss this later?"

The woman replied: "Think about what you have done."

She left his student flat at 07:00 the next morning, jurors were told.
