Iryna Farion, a professor and former Ukraine MP, have been killed after being shot on the street in Lviv, a city in western Ukraine. She was a linguist, and had promoted the Ukrainian language, and been very much opposed against Ukrainians who spoke Russian as their first language, a legacy of the long Soviet rule.

There have come more information about the murder and the suspect. There seems to be political motives behind the murder, as the suspect is said to have links to Russian neo-Nazi groups. (It's a bit odd as one of the Russian president Putin's claims for having started the war was that the Ukraine had a neo-Nazi regime.)
