I was looking at unidentified folks in the North East, and NAMUS #UP1856 looks similar to Maura. It's been so ling I figure it's worth looking at. #UP1856 had brown hair, death is assumed to have been in 2004-5, she was estimated to be 5'5 and 120 lbs. These things all line up well, so I think the two are worth comparing. What do you think?

That's a good match physically and time wise and with the remains being skeletal and possibly disturbed by animal activity (fairly common in a wooded area) the 2 inches off in height isn't that unusal. Her case has had so much attention, I'd be surprised though if LE hasn't already looked into a more formal match.

Might be worth submitting- worst they can say is that it's not a match. Her turning up in Maryland would be sort of confusing to me but we've had weirder.

could have been picked up by someone. she disappeared from a highway and these remains were found a few blocks from one. and the person who picked her up didn't necessarily do anything bad -- if she wasn't rational, she could have hitchhiked somewhere random and died of exposure.

i'm confused by the jane doe's location. it says "found in a wooded area" but the location pin is in the middle of an urban area, and not a recently developed one either. nearest possibility i see is a couple stands of trees at the nearby park.

The NamUS listing does not have provided GPS coordinates, the "location pin" is, I believe, simply Brooklyn Maryland (as opposed to the specific area where the remains were found.) This article from the discovery in 2005 states the remains were found in a wooded area near Wasena Avenue in Brooklyn Park near the Baltimore City line. PD trying to ID woman found dead in 2005 If you google map that location it's no where close to the location pin for Brooklyn in the NamUs report and it does have densely wooded areas around it (which may have well been even more wooded 20 years ago).
