Unresponsive pedestrian found lying on shoulder of I-270 after Fourth of July holiday


Illinois State Police Trooper Joshua Korando said they were dispatched at 5:48 a.m. to I-270 westbound at milepost 3.5 near the Canal Bridge. They found a man who was breathing but was not responsive.


The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital. Illinois State Police were still working to identify the person as of Friday afternoon, according to Korando.

Illinois State Police seeking help in identifying unresponsive man found on I-270

Police on Saturday released photos of what appear to be tattoos the man has in an effort to help identify him. The man, who was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, appears to have “mom” tattooed on his left shoulder and a cross on his left forearm.

The unidentified pedestrian is a white man, approximately 25 to 30 years old, between 6-foot and 6-foot-2, and weighing 200 to 220 pounds, state police said. Troopers located the pedestrian on the inside shoulder of the westbound lanes, curled up against the median wires Friday morning

Gillespie man found on I-270 ID’d by Illinois State Police

COLLINSVILLE — Illinois State Police on Thursday announced that they have identified a man found early Friday on Interstate 270.

On Thursday, state police said the man is Dennis P. Roeske, 27, of Gillespie.
