I'm so sad to read this news.

I worked as a racing official for the CART Indy Car series from 1989-1993, when John was still pretty new to the series. Like most drivers at that level of racing, he had incredible focus and passion for the sport, and a whole lot of talent. Because he was an Andretti, he had opportunities that a lot of drivers could only dream of, but he never squandered them IMO. He was my favorite of all the Andrettis - so sweet and polite and respectful - and never expected special treatment.

Rest in Peace John, you will be missed.
