The family of a 5-month-old girl said she has died after being taken off life support at Primary Children's Hospital Friday morning.

Melanie Christensen is the baby’s aunt. She said there are no words to describe the pain the parents are feeling after having to take their baby Adalyn off life support.

West Valley City Police said they will meet with the District Attorney's Office on Wednesday to determine the charges to be filed against the teen babysitter accused of committing abuse that led to the infant's death.

This poor mother.

Police say Adalyn died at the hands of her 16-year-old babysitter.
Now, he’s charged with the child’s death.
“His mom called and asked me how we were doing,” said Dearth. “I explained my situation.”

Donna says the teen’s mother told her that her son could help them with caring for her children.
Donna says the teen charged in connection to Adalyn’s death is related to the family her father married into, and that they aren’t biologically related.

She adds the teen is expected back in court on July 25th when Donna anticipates the results of his psych exam will be released. Donna is hoping however to get the court date moved up to have the results revealed sooner.

The teenage boy, who prosecutors say tossed the baby in the air repeatedly before she stopped breathing earlier this month, faces a single count of child abuse homicide, a first-degree felony, in 3rd District Juvenile Court.

The boy told police that "the baby was not acting right" that day and had sent his parents a video of the child that showed her limp and with labored breathing, court documents say. They sent a friend to check on the child.
