Hurricane Katrina evacuee reported missing in Utah
SOUTH SALT LAKE (ABC 4 Utah) - Curtis Crosby has been missing since October 2014, his last known contact was with Unified Police when he was discovered camping in an unoccupied office building in the Millcreek area (3949 S 700 E). The following day Unified Police were contacted by the same office building manager who told them Curtis Crosby was gone but he had left his belongings behind. Unified Police collected Mr. Crosby’s belongings and left them at his apartment in South Salt Lake (188 E Helm Ave.)

In December of 2014 Curtis Crosby failed to make his routine holiday contacts with out-of-state family members and was listed as a “Missing Person” with South Salt Lake Police by his daughter who lives in Louisiana. Curtis Crosby is 60 years-old / black male / brown eyes / 5’9”/ 200 lbs. / balding- shaved head / possible black & gray mustache-goatee / unknown clothing description.

Curtis Crosby was displaced from his home in New Orleans, Louisiana to Salt Lake City, UT by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. At the time of Curtis Crosby’s disappearance he had his own apartment at 188 E Helm Ave. in South Salt Lake, UT.

Police have no idea why Curtis Crosby would leave his own apartment and camp-out in an abandoned office building 5 blocks away.

South Salt Lake police seek help locating man who went missing under unusual circumstances
SOUTH SALT LAKE – Police are asking the public for help finding a man who has not been seen since October and who was listed as a missing person in December, and the man vanished after he was found camping in an abandoned building about five blocks away from his apartment in South Salt Lake. Crosby is from New Orleans and relocated to Salt Lake City after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. Family members of Crosby were concerned when he did not contact them during the holidays in December, and at that time Crosby was listed as a missing person.

According to the press release, police “have no idea why Curtis Crosby would leave his own apartment and camp-out in an abandoned office building 5 blocks away. There are no known mental or medical conditions that would cause Curtis Crosby to change his normal routine and lose touch with his family.”

<<Features: has Vitilago on hands and lips. has a full set of natural teeth with a slight gap in the front, very captivating smile and personality normally.>>

<<May seem disorientated. Wandered from established residence and may be living among the homeless. Believed to have perhaps some sort of memory loss. Does not have any identification on his person. He did a lot of advocacy work with the Katrina evacuees. Last seen with tan pants and a black hoodie and was barefoot. He has medium length hair, slicked back, and partially balding and may have a mustache or beard.>>

<<He was living at 188 E. Helm Ave. in South Salt Lake, but was last contacted by Unified Police in October when he was discovered camping in an office building at 3949 S. 700 East. It isn’t known why he was staying in the building while he still had an apartment, but the following day police learned he was gone from the building and collected and returned his belongings to his apartment. That police contact was his last time he was known to be seen.>>

<<Jasmine Crosby, his daughter, said her father has never been materialistic, willing to give up whatever he had to help someone else. He has always remained close with his family.

"He'll give you the clothes off his back and the food off his plate," she said.

Neighbors have told the Crosby family that prior to his disappearance, they would sometimes have to walk him back to his home because he couldn't seem to remember where it was. Relatives are concerned a medical incident may have impacted his mind, or that he could be experiencing early stages of dementia.>>
