Unidentified male was found by (3) teenagers from Tremonton Monday August 13th, 1973 at around 6:00pm. The UID was found on a sand bar in the Bear River (1) mile north of the Deweyville crossing at Highway 102. The unidentified man was found clad only in shorts.

LE had received no reports of missing persons in the count and stated the victim may have been a migrant worker. The state medical examiner stated due to decomposition of the body he could not conclude the victim had drowned. The medical examiner also noted that the man’s teeth were in perfect condition and had no cavities or fillings.

The area was searched from Cutler Dam to the sand bar and a house to house examination was conducted. LE found no information or evidence about the man’s identity or death.

A woman from East Tremonton said a man came to the woman’s farmhouse near the Bear River where the body was found and asked for a drink of water. The woman gave a description that resembled the deceased man that may have been Indian. It was theorized by LE that the man had went down to the river to swim and drowned as that per examination the man’s lungs had collapsed.

The case was closed, and no foul play was suspected, the UID was buried in Brigham City, UT on August 23rd, 1973.

Ugh! I hope that they at least exhumed for DNA and such. Did they reach out to the closest tribe, just in case?
