About 1,500 Mormons resign from church in protest of same-sex policy

Isn't LDS the church that baptizes dead people?

Yep. I'm appalled to admit doing so as a teenager...it's a rather creepy ritual, IMO, and an abhorrent practice. In related news, I'm happy that at least two more of my family members have resigned from the church, after years, and in one case, decades, of being "inactive," but still counted in those huge numbers of "members" the church likes to tout. Anyway, yeah.

This case should be a big one...hope it's a national exposure that sheds light on the sickness which infests so much of Utah.

Yes. They have even posthumously baptised Hitler. But, the living children of gay parents are just too much for them to deal with, somehow.

I think it freaks them out that children of gay parents exist at all. But, having been forced to memorize their "articles of faith," this recent pronouncement is particularly offensive considering their second article of faith, which states that people will be judged based on their own stuff, not "Adam's transgression," which I was told referred to the church not believing in original sin, but also the general concept of accountability being one's personal responsibility...which is what they discuss before baptism, too...because all 8 year olds are concerned about their eternal souls...well, okay, I was, but I shouldn't have been...

Anyway...check YouTube for Lewis Black's rant on behalf of a young ex-Mormon....good, good stuff that...

I found out a few years ago that my Mormon convert uncle aka "father" (long story) had my deceased mother's "work done". He had no right to do so as he was not related to her. I was furious and called the Church Office Building and told them to check their records and take her name off of the Mormon roll call. A very nice gentleman worked with me and within a few days he told me that my mother was no longer proxy baptized.
