Nearly seven months have passed since 15-year-old Kylie Arellano disappeared from her Garden City, Utah, home. She was last seen by her family on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Her mother, Stephanie Coleman, is desperately trying to find Kylie and bring her home.

Kylie didn’t grow up in Garden City — the family moved to the area in May of 2023. Stephanie says her daughter has been struggling with mental health issues, and was in therapy when she disappeared. She had also been the victim of a crime the previous year. “She’s gone through a lot,” Stephanie said.

Sheriff Dale Stacey of the Rich County Sheriff’s Office told Dateline his office got involved shortly after Kylie went missing. “I know the family personally,” he said. “Her mother called me.”

The sheriff explained that his department is very small. At one point over the summer, the office was down to just him and two deputies. Kylie is their only active missing person case. “But it’s not our only case that we’re working — and so we do try to put what effort we can into it,” he said.

According to Stephanie, there was a sighting in Perry, Utah, on Saturday, May 31, just before noon. She believes it was definitely her daughter. Perry is more than an hour south of Garden City by car. “It was at a rest stop right off of I-15,” she said. “I believe this lady with every ounce of my soul.”

Stephanie says she spoke with the woman, who told her she stopped at the rest stop that day....................Kylie comes walking out. She’s wearing a — a wig with long black hair and a beanie. I have photos of Kylie wearing the same beanie, wearing the same wig,” .............

The office has also conferred with the FBI on Kylie’s case. “At least twice we’ve spoken with the FBI. They’ve looked at the case,” Stacey said. “Both times they told us it does not fit what they need to get involved.” Stephanie says she has also been talking to an FBI agent directly.

This case is so worrying, does anyone know if she was in touch with her dad and what his background was? Also am I over reacting for thinking its weird the mom left for two weeks at the beginning to middle of june and Kylie had just went missing the end of May? Maybe im over thinking it i just know as a mom i myself would not leave the area that soon after my child had gone missing. I hope shes found i have seen multiple girls go missing since ive been in utah and it never seems that they get the attention they deserve.

Similar to the Jack and Lily missing case where the mother immediately left the area. Very strange imo particularly as they were much younger

As the one-year mark approaches since 15-year-old Kylie Arellano vanished from her family’s home in this small Rich County community, authorities and her loved ones say the search remains active with no confirmed sightings and ongoing leads.

Kylie was last seen around 10:52 p.m. on May 29, 2025, at her residence in Garden City near Bear Lake, according to the Rich County Sheriff’s Office. Her mother, Stephanie Coleman, reported her missing the following day.

The Rich County Sheriff’s Office reiterated its commitment in a statement, saying it is working with local, state and federal partners, including a federal Joint Terrorism Task Force, to pursue all leads. Sheriff Dale Stacey and deputies have pushed back against claims of indifference, stressing they value community support and remain dedicated to bringing Kylie home safely.

Coleman has expressed frustration and unwavering hope in prior interviews, telling KUTV she has distributed flyers widely and believes her daughter may have been coerced. Kylie had discussed running away with friends but had no contact with family or social media activity since shortly after her disappearance. No surveillance video captured her movements in the area, her mother has said.

Kylie is listed in national databases including NamUs and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. She is not currently listed on the Utah Department of Public Safety’s missing persons database, according to earlier reports.

Description: Kylie is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 115 pounds, with chin-length brown hair and brown eyes. She has black braces and tattoos. She would now be 16 years old.

The sheriff’s office has received and followed up on multiple tips and possible sightings, but none have been confirmed as of the latest available information. Private investigators and volunteer search efforts, including teams with dogs, have assisted, with some expressing concerns about possible trafficking.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Rich County Sheriff’s Office at 435-793-2285, referencing case #25-R308. Tips can also go to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST.
