Utah man arrested for planning to set off pipe bombs on New Year's Eve
A Utah man is behind bars Friday morning, accused of plotting to set off pipe bombs on New Year's Eve.
Sgt. J.C. Holt with West Jordan Police Department told 2News that Rocky Graczyk, 40, had intentions of setting off bombs within the city of West Jordan.
The investigation began Dec. four when relations reported to police that Graczyk had been contacting them “non-cease asking for money to purchase guns,” in accordance with charging documents. Moreover, he “was making radical statements on social media about terrorist organizations” and sent a member of the family a picture of 9 pipe bombs with the message “test it out. Already made. Ready to go,” the fees state.
Police served a search warrant on Graczyk’s residence and located gun powder containers and other bomb making materials, based on the fees. When interviewed, he advised detectives that “he meant to set the bombs off throughout the town in garbage cans on New Yr’s Eve, but later changed his mind,” in accordance with courtroom documents.
While speaking to police, Graczyk additionally talked about that “he (wished) he had an AR-15 so he might shoot someone,” the fees strate.
Graczyk was previously blocked from the Orem Police Department’s social media pages for making threats towards the division and a retired officer, based on charging documents.
