MURRAY — Police are asking for the public's help in finding an 82-year-old Murray man they say has cognitive impairment.

Nick Kapos, who is not able to walk very far, was reported missing Thursday. He was last seen at his home in Murray.


Kapos is described as a white man with gray hair who is 5-foot-3 and weighs 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a short-sleeve red, plaid shirt and prescription eyeglasses.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Murray police: 801-840-4000.

Nick Kapos was last seen at his home in Murray. His family says he's suffering from dementia and say the medicine he takes to help with the dementia has probably worn off.

"He is someone who is not going to make his way home on his own," His daughter Trish Kapos told ABC4. "It's going to be on the shoulders of the good people of Utah to bring him back to us."

Trish is the youngest of Nick's four daughters. She says her father's dementia can be hard to see.

"He might even make someone think that nothing's wrong with him because he's going to be very friendly and he's going to converse," she said.

[h=1]Body of missing Murray man found in Millcreek’s Big Cottonwood Creek[/h]

MILLCREEK, Utah, Sept. 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews have recovered the body of missing Murray man Nick Kapos in Big Cottonwood Creek.

Kapos, 82, who suffered from dementia, went missing on the evening of Sept. 14. On Wednesday afternoon, families confirmed that a body found in the water, near 145 W. Central Ave., was that of Kapos. The Unified Police Department has not yet announced the identity of the deceased.

Officers reportedly worked with family members to confirm the identity. The body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office.
