GUILTY UT - Weston Kubbe for kidnapping, assault of 11yo boy, Ogden, 2016

:tantrum: Their was an interview with his neighbors in one of the links above that said they always saw young kids going into his apartment. I don't think I have the heart to go find it now. I hope the neighbors can help ID some of the other kids this sicko hurt.
Not sure if this is the interview you're thinking of, but nonetheless :( I don't remember reading this interview. I may have missed it or blocked it from memory, but either way, unfortunately I can't say I'm surprised.
Kubbe's neighbors, who did not want to be identified, said he lives alone and it is not unusual to see kids at his house."I kept telling him you're going to get in trouble, you're going to get in trouble it don't look right," said someone who lives in the neighborhood.

OGDEN — A Murray man who triggered an Amber Alert on Oct. 13 is facing additional charges in connection to another victim.
...
The Weber County Attorney’s Office filed another case against Kubbe in 2nd District Court on Nov. 1, after South Ogden police learned that a 14-year-old boy told them he spent two nights with Kubbe, whom he met online.
He is charged in the second case with two counts of kidnapping, second-degree felonies; two counts of permitting a child to be exposed to a controlled substance, third-degree felonies; and four counts of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, third-degree felonies.
The 11-year-old told officers about the 14-year-old boy, according to the probable cause statement filed in 2nd District Court.

The 14-year-old boy told officers he also met Kubbe online, according to the document filed in that case. The boy told officers that Kubbe picked him up and took him to his home in Murray two times where he smoked marijuana and also ate THC gummy bears. The teenager spent the day once with Kubbe and then a night with Kubbe and the 11-year-old.

Murray man at center of Amber Alert charged in fourth sex case

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865669252/Murray-man-at-center-of-Amber-Alert-charged-in-fourth-sex-case.html

A fourth round of sexual misconduct charges were filed Tuesday against a Murray man who was the target of an Amber Alert in October following an alleged kidnapping.

Court documents now allege four teenage boys have been victimized by 37-year-old Weston Ray Kubbe. His new case, filed in 3rd District Court, charges him with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old, all third-degree felonies.

Charges say the victim, now 18, "came forward after seeing new report(s) involving (Kubbe) and young men where (he) learned the defendant was much older than (he) was led to believe."

Between Kubbe's previous three cases, he is charged with object rape, two counts of child kidnapping, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual abuse, forcible sexual abuse, endangerment of a child, and other offenses. Each case filed against Kubbe says he met his victim online.

Kubbe was denied bail in a hearing held Nov. 16 in connection with two of his recently filed cases. His next court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in 3rd District Court in West Jordan. It is his first court appearance in the case filed against him Nov. 21. No court date has been scheduled in the charges filed Tuesday.

Man targeted by Amber Alert charged in 5th sex case since October
MURRAY — A man already facing four sexual misconduct cases was charged Wednesday in what prosecutors allege is his fifth case of molesting or raping a teenage boy at his Murray home.
In the new case, Kubbe is charged in 2nd District Court with child kidnapping and sodomy upon a child, both first-degree felonies, and endangerment of a child, a third-degree felony.

The charges allege Kubbe picked up a 12-year-old boy from a park in Weber County in late August and took him to his own home in Murray, where he performed a sexual act on the child.
Kubbe picked the boy up and drove him away "without the knowledge or consent of either of the child's parents," court documents say.

Judge wants Weber County kidnapping, sex abuse cases to move forward

http://www.standard.net/Courts/2017/01/26/Judge-wants-Weber-County-kidnapping-sex-abuse-cases-to-move-forward.html

A judge expressed concern that cases filed against a Murray man who triggered an Amber Alert seem to not be moving forward.

Judge Michael DiReda questioned attorneys Thursday, Jan. 26, about the progress of three cases filed in Weber County against Weston Ray Kubbe, 37.

“I’m concerned we’ve had three decisions to prelim hearings and I’m wondering what are we waiting for,” DiReda said.

Kubbe’s attorney, Jason Widdison, said in court he has received most of the evidence gathered by South Ogden police and prosecutors in two cases filed against Kubbe before December. He said he’s still waiting for additional evidence in the third case prosecutors filed Dec. 28.

“The prosecutors are looking into why it’s taking so long,” Widdison said.

Kubbe is charged in Weber County’s 2nd District Court in three cases and in Salt Lake County’s 3rd District Court in two cases.

[h=1]Sixth victim comes forward in child molestation case[/h]
Weston Kubbe has already been charged with charges related to sodomy, kidnapping and unlawful sex with minors. But now, prosecutors have filed new charges against the former state worker.

This makes six alleged victims that Kubbe is accused of sexually molesting.

"What we're learning as we go through this, this has gone on for a period of time," said Sim Gill, Salt Lake's district attorney. "(There's been) multiple victims and in different stages of sexual exploitation and sexual assaults on these individuals."

The latest minor claimed Kubbe sexually molested him when he was 14 years old.

In charging documents police said the alleged victim is now 21 years old but "he did not know what to do about this experience and decided not to tell anyone about this for years."
Many of the Salt Lake victims were interviewed at the Children's Justice Center where there's counseling and victims learn they are not alone.

"Once they come here, it's the beginning of their healing and its a remarkable transformation," said Susanne Mitchell, director of the justice center. "The parents say their kids feel like a burden has been lifted off of them."

Prosecutors said they're not sure if there's still more victims.

A Murray man accused of offenses including kidnapping and sexual abuse of young boys in six criminal cases has taken plea deals in three Ogden cases.

The deal is part of an agreement that will ultimately resolve all six cases, according to court documents.

Kubbe pleaded guilty in 2nd District Court on April 12 to two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, a first-degree felony, and kidnapping, a second-degree felony, admitting to taking the boy from his home and to touching him inappropriately. Additional charges in the case were dismissed, including felony counts of child kidnapping, sodomy of a child and enticing a minor by internet or text.

It is expected that sentences in the case will run concurrently with each other and to a sentence in Kubbe's second case, according to plea documents, but at a sentencing hearing scheduled for June 1, prosecutors will ask that Kubbe serve a minimum of 15 years in prison for the aggravated sexual abuse charges.

In the third case, Kubbe pleaded no contest to an additional count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, and attempted child kidnapping, a second-degree felony. A third-degree felony charge of child endangerment was dismissed as part of the deal.

Child molester given lengthy prison sentence

Admitted sex offender Weston Kubbe asked for forgiveness and apologized to the young victims and their families.

But the father of one of the victims said they were in no mood for forgiveness.

“He only apologized because he was caught,” said the father whose name is not being released.

'A wolf in sheep's clothing': Utah man sent to prison for abusing boys he met via social media | KSL.com

Weston Ray Kubbe, 38, was ordered to serve at least 30 years and up to life in prison for sexually abusing two boys he had lured online and trying to kidnap another.

"You really had the opportunity to be a force for good. And instead, you exploited their vulnerability. You took advantage of them. Instead of acting like an older brother or uncle, you presented yourself as a wolf in sheep's clothing," 2nd District Judge Michael DiReda told Kubbe.

The judge sentenced Kubbe to two back-to-back prison terms of 15 years to life for three convictions of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, first-degree felonies, in addition to lesser sentences for other related charges.
