The family of a 35-year-old woman who was released from Henrico Jail Aug. 22 is desperately seeking the community’s help in locating her after she failed to show up to meet family members who had arrived from Ohio to pick her up.

The family of Ohio-native Amanda Marshall reported her missing to Henrico Police Aug. 24 at about 3:45 p.m., according to Henrico Police spokesperson Will McCue. She had been released two days earlier, following about eight months in jail on charges related to prostitution, cousin April Foulk told the Citizen.

“Our family spoke to Mandi before she left the Henrico Jail who asked us to send transportation to pick her up,” another cousin, Kyle Foulk, wrote in a Facebook message to the Citizen. Marshall, he said, was planning to walk from Henrico Jail West (on East Parham Road at the county’s western government center campus) to the Virginia Probation and Parole Office on Hungary Spring Road, about a mile away, to check in and get an address where her family members could pick her up.

Before leaving the jail, Marshall told her family she was going to walk to the Virginia Probation and Parole Office on Hungary Spring Road, which is a mile away from the jail.

Police say when she got there, Marshall was supposed to call her family so she could be picked up.

However, her family never received the call, and the probation office says she never arrived.

VA court records show that she was recently convicted of Felony Sch I or II drug possession (she pled guilty) after an arrest in February of 2023. She was sentenced on August 22, the date she was reported missing. Case No. CR23001908-00 .She has a hearing scheduled on a separate charge for Sept. 11 (which I believe is the prostitution-related one "resides in a bawdy place" a misdemeanor) Case No. CR23001909-00. There are actually several separate case numbers with that same charge. To view the state records Case Status and Information Click on the "online case information statewide" and then further search using her first and last name in the search box. When the names come up you'll have to hit the button that says "load more results" to get to her full name "Amanda Sue Marshall" (and you'll have to do that for each record). I hope she just panicked at the thought of 5 years of probation and went somewhere to sort things out and didn't attempt to use again after 8 months of being incarcerated, as that can lead to an overdose in someone who has not used in months. Hoping for a good outcome for this young lady - her family is there for her.

  • Amanda is originally from Bellefontaine, about 50 miles northwest of Columbus.
  • Surveillance cameras showed her leaving the jail toward the probation office, per family.
  • "She’s a good person loving and caring and made a mistake served her time and was so ready to get home and rekindle her relationship with her kids and rest of the family," JLK, Amanda's nephew.

There was something on the news recently about “pimps” scouring court dockets etc trying to manipulate women with similar offenses into joining them upon their release. Not saying that this is the case here, but it seems human traffickers have no limits these days.
