I haven't seen this case posted to WS and wanted to highlight it since it's now been close to 7 years since Brendon's death. The details are few, and the type of case is difficult to solve, but I'm posting in case there's a tiny chance someone reading this knows anything or can sleuth the truth.
I also posted in the hopes of bringing about awareness to the dangers & devastating consequences of shooting a gun into the air. I worked EMS in the city (where it's long been illegal to shoot a gun--with some exceptions), including areas where celebratory gunfire was commonplace and a tradition on both July 4th and NYE. I shudder to think what could have been. Brendon's Law was passed in 2014 to make it illegal to shoot a gun in the air, and a felony if someone is struck as a result. I don't know about Chesterfield, but sadly, here in the city, I see complaints in our local forum of this dangerous practice continuing to happen.

On July 4, 2013, 7-year old Brendon Mackey was shot and killed as he walked with his father near the fireworks display at Sunday Park in Brandermill. Brendon's injuries were the direct result of "celebratory gunfire."

Ballistics tests revealed the bullet that stole this young child's life to be a .40 caliber, full metal jacket.
Crime Solvers continues to turn to the public for help with solving this case.
