There are photos of the pants recovered (in Namus) - they do not seem very deteriorated so unlikely the PMI would be very long (ie: not decades) even though no PMI estimate is provided in Namus.

Cavil Shirley? Went missing from Lawrenceville, VA (Brunswick County) in 1999 and was last known to be wearing light colored dockers sport pants. The NAMUS description of the pants says metallic green but they look pretty tan to me.

*edit* I see now that the clasp is described as metallic green, not the pants themselves.

Seems like a good possibility. It is annoying Namus gives no more specific detail for the location other than somewhere in the county. I wonder if the clasp was simply a metal that had developed a green patina?

I can't find any news articles talking about the discovery of human remains. Essentially all of Brunswick County is a "wooded area".

I actually submitted Cavil yesterday to the DoeNetwork. You would think that LE had made that connection already but I guess you never know.
